May 4, 6, & 11 (last day of class) Dear Social Media Marketers:
I can not believe that this week + 1 day next week is our last day of class. I would personally like to thank each and every one of you for doing your best to complete the assignments given during this time. I had never taught online before and you all know I love being in class and infront of, and interacting with students. I was caught a bit off guard when I suddenly had to switch to an online environment. Truth be told, I was not prepared to switch so drastically to an strictly online environment, and was not as prepared as much as I would have like to have been. I did not even know what Zoom was or how to use it. I did not have my lectures online or prerecorded like many of the other instructors. I am hoping that in the Fall, classes will resume and we can all be together, but if you do take more classes from me, and we are online, I will have all lectures and classes live online using a Zoom platform as video and audio to interact with all of you. I will take this summer to figure out how to deliver the best classroom, no classroom experience online. I miss your smiling faces.
Bravo! to all for learning most of this course on your own. I am proud of each and every one of you, and although it was not an optimal learning experience, I hope our time we did have together, along with the lecture notes and assignments gave you some insight to the skills necessary to building an effective social media marketing strategy and campaign. Now that you have all of the tools and strategies to build a brand, create customer personas, understanding of each of the SMM platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest and blogging), and you understand how to generate content to generate organic reach, it is time to put some advertising dollars to your content and platforms. Chapter 14 gives and introduction into budgeting, ad formating and budgets.
Please read lecture notes for Chapter 14: Social Media Advertising. Complete Final Assignment 4: Creating a Blog - Due Monday, May 11th. Email me your website address, including your blog to: [email protected]
Have a wonderful summer. Please come see me, or take more Marketing classes in the Fall. Phone me, write me anytime with any questions you may have about life, career, colleges, grad school, jobs, your idea for a start-up etc. I wish I could have had a chance to get to know you all better. You truly are a great group of students. Go take life by the horns, and crush it in whatever you set out to do.

Week of April 27 & 29
Dear Social Media Marketers:
Now that you are familiar with the most popular SMM platforms and their use and function, it is time to develop a social media campaign. A social media marketing campaign is a coordinated social media marketing effort to communicate with a target audience to achieve a marketing or business goal. This chapters ties together everything we have been learning all semester long into an actionable step-by-step process to launch an integrated campaign Built on big ideas that persuade action among followers, promotes a product or service, an event, a company milestone, build brand awareness, or create a community of brand advocates, and has a start and end date.

Week of April 20 & 22
Dear Social Media Marketers:
I wish we were meeting face to face to review the slides and lectures and discuss as a group best practices for executing SMM campaigns for small or start-up businesses. I learn so much for you all, and this online teaching is NOT my favorite.
It has been brought to my attention that there are numerous questions on the exam that are wrong or the answers don't match with my lecture notes. Don't stress... you will all get those as Free-bees. I think there are about 4 wonky questions.
Don't forget Research Assignment 3: Developing a Content Strategy is due on Monday, 4/20. Thank you to those who have already submitted your assignment. They look AWESOME! and I am so proud of the work you put into them.
This week: Read Lecture Notes for Chapter 12: BLOGS (yay, I love BLOGS. Gary Vee says Blogs are the hidden gem of SMM and small busiensses, especially B to B operations who have an opportunity to capitalize on this channel to establish themself as an expert in their field. A blog is defined as “a regular feature appearing as part of an online publication that typically relates to a particular topic and consists of articles and personal commentary by one or more authors. Pay attention to Slide Number 16 which lists a pplethora of Blog topics to write about. As part of your final assignment 4, you will need to write a BLOG and include it on your Webpage. Mosre about that in the weeks to come. I need to rewrite Assignment 4, since we will not be face to face. :(
Stay safe,
Marilyn Goodman

Dear Students:
I am hoping all are healthy and staying safe while at home. I personally am going a bit stir crazy, but understand the importance of STAYING AT HOME and practicing social distancing. Please do the same. I miss you guys and really feel like you got cheated from what otherwise would be a really fun, interactive class had we continue to meet in person. But alas, all we can do is continue learning from a distance and reading the lecture slide and other supplemental materials provides. I am hoping to see you all very soon so we can catch up, smile and laugh. Stay healthy my friends.
Complete Exam 3: 8, 9, 10, 11 (Exam and Answer sheet provided below - Due April 20
Research Assignment 3: Developing a Content Strategy is due next week. You have had plenty of time to work on this assignment so I am looking forward to receiving - Due April 20 - Examples under the Social Media Tab under Research Assignments.

April 6, 8
Dear Students: I hope you are well and staying healthy. I certainly miss teaching this class face-to-face, but hope the lecture notes are detailed and thorough enough for you to understand each of the different channels we are now learning about. Chapter 10: Pinterest - Pinterest, Inc. is an American social media web and mobile application company. It operates a software system designed to enable saving and discovery of information on the World Wide Web using images and, on a smaller scale, GIFs and videos. Many of my students really enjoy this social media platform and the functionality it provides for many different brands.
Before the closure, I handed out assignment 3: Developing a Content Calendar. Please continue working on this assignment. It will be due on April 20. If you did not get one, remember, all assignments (and examples) are posted under the Social Media Marketing Tab (not the school closure tab) under research assignments.
Call me or email me with any questions.
